ERGONOMIC EVALUATIONS AVAILABLE TO NORTHERN MICHIGAN BUSINESSES Interior Expert, Chiropractor Collaborate for New Service TRAVERSE CITY, MICH., APRIL 19, 2005 – Adrienne Rasmussen of Interphase, the exclusive Haworth dealer in Northern Michigan, and Dr. Carrie Mayes of Mayes Chiropractic are collaborating to promote health and productivity in the work place by providing ergonomic evaluations. Ergonomics involves designing workspaces to be used easily, efficiently and effectively. Ergonomically correct workstations ensure that employees will be less prone to injury, stress and fatigue, and more comfortable and productive throughout their workday and career. In an effort to reduce injury and improve employee productivity, Interphase and Mayes Chiropractic are offering businesses and institutions in the Grand Traverse Area an ergonomic consultation of existing furniture and facilities. The written evaluation includes recommendations for upgrading products or the overall workplace environment where necessary. Two consulting options are available: Initial consultation, evaluation and a written report of recommendations. Employee education and training seminar (30 minutes). All services are provided at affordable rates. "Chronic back and neck problems often result from improper postures that are repeated over hours and days," notes Dr. Mayes. "Many workstations, especially those involving computers, contribute greatly to these damaging postures. When the workstation is designed with ergonomics in mind, these problems can be alleviated or relieved all together." "Time after time, we’ve seen individuals and businesses make dramatic improvements in productivity and health by taking a look at simple things like adjustable keyboard trays, foot rests, appropriate task lighting, and adjustable arms for thin, flat screen computer monitors," said Adrienne Rasmussen, branch manager for the Traverse City Interphase office. Dr. Mayes is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College and in private practice at Mayes Chiropractic, P.C. She utilizes Chiropractic Biophysics, a biomechanical approach to corrective care of the spine.
